“WRITE IN KANYE WEST,” Chicago rapper Kanye West is back at it again! This time he got flagged by twitter for posting false election ballot results! The screenshot showed him leading in the 2020 presidential race over both president Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
Kanye reemerged on the 2020 presidential campaign trail with just over three weeks until election day urging his supporters to write his name in on the ballot, since he missed required deadlines to be added officially.
Monday October 12, at 5:30pm, West released his first official campaign video ad from his personal campaign website, Kayne2020.country, which he shared on Twitter and Instagram. The captain was simple, “kanye2020.country we stepping out on faith”. In his campaign video he spent a large portion discussing the importance of faith, unity for the country, and how building stronger families is the key element to achieving his vision for America.
Since making his announcement, Kanye and his team were presented with a big surprise, which we eventually found were invalid.

Early voting began in Kentucky yesterday October 13, and in just hours Kanye West received notification that he had received over forty thousand votes, surpassing both Biden and Trump so far. He posted a video of himself cheering, then showing the results to the camera as it zoomed in, showing that he had 19% of the early votes in Kentucky. He yelled out “Get the West Wing Ready” He then posted a tweet saying, “PEOPLE TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF RUNNING FOR PRESIDET… NEVER LET WEAK CONTROLLING PEOPLE KILL YOUR SPIRIT.”

Since Kanye made the post, it was found that the Kentucky news outlet, LEX 18 News, posted those results in June, which were nothing more than a test run polling done by the Associated Press, which they do before every election as their informal predictor. The News site clarified that up in a tweet saying, “Someone discovered a cached web link that we used during June’s primary election to post Associated Press election results. The old link was still populating current AP data and showed test results…The results were not valid. They were simply part of a test. We apologize for any confusion.”

Kanye first announced that he would be entering the 2020 American Presidential race July 4th via tweet saying, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States #2020VISION”. Shortly after, his aspirations seemed to come to a halt as his announcement was apparently “too late to get on the ballot in a number of states” according to Mark Osbourne of ABC News. Since then we have not heard much about his actual campaign platform, and many people thought that he was simply just being Ye, just seeking attention rather than being genuine, causing them ultimately not taking him seriously.
In an interview Kanye did with Forbes Chief Content Officer Randall Lane, “he doesn’t mind hurting presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.” His response to those who call him a race traitor and disapprove of his non democratic political view was this, “That is a form of racism and white supremacy and white control to say that all Black people need to be Democrat and to assume that me running is me splitting the vote. All of that information is being charged up on social media platforms by Democrats. And Democrats used to tell me, the same Democrats have threatened me. . . . The reason why this is the first day I registered to vote is because I was scared. I was told that if I voted on Trump my music career would be over. I was threatened into being in one party. I was threatened as a celebrity into being in one party. I was threatened as a Black man into the Democratic party. And that’s what the Democrats are doing, emotionally, to my people. Threatening them to the point where this white man can tell a Black man if you don’t vote for me, you’re not Black.”

Some of his platform and political views also include his mistrust of vaccines and micro chips; he takes a pro-life stand because he choses to “follow the word of the Bible;” he is against the death penalty; and he feels that Black History Month does nothing more than remind us that of how oppressed blacks have been historically in America.

Kanye chose not to allow the late entry, lack of strong backing and what seemed to be a missed opportunity discourage him. In the last three seconds of of his campaign video, the screen flashed “Write in Kanye West” in black and white. Kanye also modeled his expectations in a tweet in which he displayed a photo of what appears to be an election ballot. Different candidate’s names are displayed and at the end there is a section with the heading “Write-in”, and under it the words “Kanye Omari West”, followed by Kanye tagging the tweet “Friends writing me in”

As a reminder, election day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
