Tuesday October 27, Feds charged and arrested two more people connected to a 2.5 million dollar unemployment scheme in Detroit Michigan.
Detroit residents Johnny Richardson 25, and Micahia Taylor 27, are both charged with filing fraudulent claims along with a third person, Brandi Hawkins 39, also from Detroit, who was arrested in July in connection to the scheme.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, they would tell Hawkins, who was a contract employee at the Detroit Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA), about their claims and she would release the funds. Hawkins currently awaits trial for fraudulently distributing more than $2.5 million in federal and state funds. According to ABC 12 News, $200,000 cash was found in Hawkins’ home.

If you’re wondering how they got caught, take one guess. That’s right folks, Richardson posted a photo on Instagram, which was recently deleted, of a Mercedes truck with a loving message saying “BABY YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING I GOT THE BIG HOUSE U WANTED AND THE CAR AND THE JEWLRY BTW I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND IM NOT DONE NEXT WEEK I GOT SOMETHING BATTER @micahia_doesmyhair HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY.” Federal investigators have been monitoring their accounts and taking note of the clothes, jewelry, trips and cars. Eventually they were able to link the UIA fraud to the purchases.
Interestingly, the couple appeared to be pretty well off before their arrest. Richardson can be seen on his Instagram page, @imjust_johny, with his friends pulling up to a very nice house in a Lamborghini followed by drop top Rolls Royce and a RR truck. He even posted a pic talking about how he spent $10,000 to rent the Rolls Royce “Because Im just living my best life”
It is not clear what Richardson’s occupation was, but Taylor, who worked as a hair stylist, even owns her own salon, never missed a beat, booking clients even until the day of her arrest.

Following her arrest, Taylor’s last post to Instagram was a personal statement saying “I’m really going to hold my head high cant $h3! break me but it broke some.
She and Richardson are facing 20 years in federal prison.
It is unclear whether the two are in Jail or not, because one suspect, Johnny, went live today on his Instagram.
